Coming Q2 2026

Project Quick Scan

When a programme feels off-track but nobody can pinpoint why, you need a structured diagnostic — not another status meeting. The Project Quick Scan gives you a repeatable assessment framework that turns gut feeling into scored, actionable findings within a single day.

Built from 28+ years of rescuing and reviewing financial services programmes, this toolkit covers the dimensions that actually predict project failure: governance clarity, stakeholder alignment, delivery capacity, and risk maturity.

Why this toolkit exists

Most project reviews either take too long (6-week audit) or are too shallow (traffic-light status report that everyone ignores). The Quick Scan sits in the middle: a structured, one-day assessment that gives sponsors and steering committees an honest, scored view of where their programme actually stands — and what to fix first.

In financial services, where programme budgets routinely exceed €1M and regulatory deadlines don't move, catching problems early isn't just good practice — it's existential. This framework has been refined across dozens of programme interventions in banking, trading, and asset management environments.

What's included

Scoring Framework (6 Dimensions)

Structured assessment across governance, stakeholder alignment, delivery capacity, risk management, planning maturity, and change readiness. Each dimension scored 1–5 with clear criteria definitions — no room for interpretation drift between assessors.

Interview Guide & Question Bank

60+ calibrated questions organised by stakeholder role (sponsor, PM, delivery lead, business owner). Designed to surface the actual state of play, not the official narrative. Includes probing follow-ups and red-flag indicators.

Risk Heatmap Template

Visual risk mapping tool that plots identified risks by likelihood and impact. Pre-loaded with the 15 most common failure patterns in financial services programmes — from scope creep during regulatory changes to vendor lock-in on critical path.

Findings & Recommendations Template

Structured report template that maps findings to recommendations with clear ownership, priority, and timeline. Designed to be actionable the day after the scan — not a shelf document that gets filed and forgotten.

Executive Summary One-Pager

Board-ready one-page summary with radar chart visualisation, top 3 risks, and recommended immediate actions. The format that actually gets read by steering committees and sponsors.

Who this is for

Programme sponsors who need an honest assessment before making go/no-go decisions. PMO leads who want a standardised way to assess portfolio health. Independent project managers brought in to review troubled programmes. And steering committee members who want more than a green/amber/red traffic light to base their decisions on.

Frequently asked questions

Can I really complete an assessment in one day?

Yes. The framework is designed for a single-day intensive assessment: morning interviews with 4–6 key stakeholders, afternoon scoring and analysis, end-of-day debrief with the sponsor. The templates and question bank eliminate preparation overhead. For larger programmes, you might extend to two days.

Is this specific to financial services?

The scoring framework and process are universal. The risk heatmap and question bank are calibrated for financial services programmes — they include regulatory-specific risks, vendor patterns common in FS, and governance structures typical of banks and investment firms. You could use it in other sectors, but you'd get maximum value in FS.

How is this different from a full programme audit?

An audit looks at everything and takes weeks. The Quick Scan is a focused diagnostic: it's designed to identify the 3–5 issues that matter most, fast. Think of it as triage, not surgery. If the Quick Scan reveals deeper structural issues, you'll know where to focus a deeper review.

Can I use this for recurring portfolio reviews?

Absolutely. Many clients run Quick Scans quarterly across their programme portfolio. The scoring framework gives you trend data over time, which is far more valuable than point-in-time assessments. The templates include a comparison view for tracking score evolution.

Need an external pair of eyes on your programme?

We can run the Quick Scan for you — or train your PMO team to run it independently. Advisory engagements available alongside this template pack.
